“Forgive yourself for not being at peace. The moment you completely accept your non-peace, your non-peace becomes transmuted into peace. Anything you accept fully will get you there, will take you into peace. This is the miracle of surrender.”
~Eckhart Tolle ..*
When practicing mindfulness and being fully present in this moment, we release the shackles of our past that have held us back and free ourselves from any other barriers that prevent inner peace. Inner peace can never be found in the past or in the future, it is only viable in the present moment.
With mindful awareness of the present moment we are then able to forgive more easily the wrongdoings of the past, be it from the others or ourselves. It is these wrongdoings that hold us back from progressing and living in a great state of peace. With peace in our being and heart, we are better equipped to love both others and ourselves.
But as Eckhart Tolle suggests, be gentle with yourself and your approach to mindfulness. If you find yourself with an agitated mind, one that isn’t dwelling in the present moment, then forgive yourself for this, because once your surrender and accept this non-peace you are once again at peace.
